What caused my buy limit order not to be executed?
When placing a buy limit order, you need to focus on the ask price, as this is the price at which the system will execute the order. It's similar to when you click the buy button; the order is triggered by the ask price.
Chart display:
Charts typically display the historical bid price by default. This means you might see the price reaching your requested level, but you should remember that the ask price needs to be at or below that level for your order to execute.
Bid-ask spread:
The ask price is always higher than the bid price, as ask price = bid price + spread. Therefore, even if the chart shows the price reaching your requested level, the ask price may have remained higher at that moment, preventing your order from being filled.
